Parent Letter: Pivot to Remote Learning

Dear P.S. 41 Families,

As we enter the winter months, we want to ensure that our entire school community is fully prepared in the event that New York City Public Schools announces a Pivot to Remote Learning Day. This may occur due to severe weather or a building-related emergency. Our goal is to maintain a smooth instructional day, keep students safe, and ensure learning continues without interruption.

How You Will Be Notified

In the event of a systemwide pivot, NYCPS will notify families by email, text message, and social media. P.S. 41 will also send additional reminders through ClassDojo and email.

Student Devices & Login Readiness

To ensure access to Google Classroom and remote instruction, every student must have a working device at home. NYCPS requires that all students have devices assigned in DeviceHub and taken home if needed for remote learning.

Please check the following before any potential remote day:

  • Your child has their DOE-issued device at home.
  • The device is fully charged.
  • Your child knows their DOE username and password.
  • Your child can successfully log into TeachHub, Google Classroom, and Zoom/Meet.

What to Expect on a Remote Day

If a pivot is announced, students will follow a modified schedule to allow staggered logins and ensure that city systems remain stable during morning sign-on.

Your child’s teacher will post the day’s schedule, Google Meet link, and assignments in Google Classroom by the start of the school day.

Please make sure your child logs in at their assigned time.

Attendance

Daily attendance will be taken during remote instruction through student logins and participation.
If your child cannot log in due to technical issues, please notify your teacher or the main office as soon as possible so the issue can be documented and resolved.

  • Students are present when:
    • They attend the live session OR
    • Submit assigned work OR
    • Engage in documented 1:1 communication OR
    • Completed remote packet.

Remote learning requires strong communication between school and home. If you experience difficulties during a remote day—technology issues, schedule concerns, or other challenges—please reach out immediately. We are here to support every family.

Qué esperar en un día remoto

Asistencia
